For many, many moons I served the public as a civil servant for the California Department of Transportation. My experiences with projects throughout California became part of my genetics - the 'Travel Chromosome'. I am constantly traveling and exploring not only California, but the American West.

The camera enables me to be artistically creative and share interesting images of our landscape, history, flora and fauna. My skills in photography were honed from the age of 13 with my Uncle's Kodak Retina 35mm camera, then college classes, and even for Transportation with photographing project details and photographs for public displays.

I enjoy sharing my experiences and knowledge by writing and photographing special places and visions. I am actively involved in websites for photographers-writers.

'TrekEarth' is one of my favorite contributing websites. You may view my photos at www.trekearth.com/members/photoray

On 'YouTube' you may view my video photo slide shows at http://www.youtube.com/user/MrPhotoray

I hope to stimulate others with my travel articles and photographs to explore and photograph our great country.
